The invention relates to a device for removing unabsorbed cladding light in a high-power optical system. The device in some embodiments comprises a glass block, of which the refractive index is larger than the refractive index of a fiber cladding; and a metal housing arranged outside the glass block. The glass block and the metal housing are used in a combined manner so as to remove the needless light.
