Adjustable indicators for containers and methods for using and making the same are provided. In one example embodiment, a cap for a bottle includes a closure operative to be coupled to the bottle for closing the bottle, a base coupled to the closure, a dial positioned between a portion of the base and a portion of the closure, and a gear assembly positioned between a portion of the base and a portion of the dial. The gear assembly includes a dial gear subassembly coupled to the dial and a user gear subassembly, wherein the gear assembly is operative to translate movement of the user gear subassembly into movement of the dial gear subassembly for moving the dial with respect to the closure.
