The method at the mobile terminal in a wireless communications network of reporting cell measurements comprises determining at the mobile terminal that a property of a channel established via a serving cell fails to comply with a quality criterion. In direct response to such determination, the mobile terminal determines a property of one or more channels of at least one neighboring cell, and reports the determined property of the channel of the serving cell and the determined property of the channel(s) of the neighboring cell(s) to a network node of the serving cell.
