The processing circuitry sets a reference position in an area extracted by performing first processing on first image data. The processing circuitry sets a processing condition based on a pixel value at the reference position. The processing circuitry changes a threshold included in the processing condition in stages and performs second processing for extracting an area corresponding to the threshold on the first image data at each stage, thereby generating second image data including a result of the second processing at each stage.
