The method (300) can include: streaming (310) media content in a wireless communication device; identifying (320) a media signature of the streamed media content; searching (330) a stored library for the identified media signature; and playing (340) locally stored media content, if the search results in finding a match with the identified media signature in the stored library. Thus, when a match occurs, locally stored media content replaces the streamed media content, to provide substantially lower power consumption and enhanced battery life in connection with wireless communication devices.
