In embodiments, one or more rules associated with one or more healthcare information systems are received. The one or more rules each designate an initiating and at least one target application. One or more actions are associated to each target application. The initiating application is monitored for a trigger associated with the one or more rules. In embodiments, the trigger causes the one or more actions to be communicated to each target applications. In embodiments, the one or more actions initiate various changes in a display associated with each target application.
