A composition comprising a compound having a Formula I: wherein T is derivative of a terpene and R is a derivative of a neurotransmitter amino acid. Pharmaceutical formulations for topical use as insect repellents including the terpenes and terpene esters in form of the pharmaceutically acceptable salt or base are provided. A process for preparing the composition and the formulations are also provided.
