Herein described is a rod holder assembly for holding a rod in a desired orientation that is manually adjustable about the horizontal and vertical axes (singlehandedly and substantially synchronously) and is capable of a variety of tension settings allowing for a degree of rotational movement about the horizontal and/or vertical axes in response to external forces or substantially no rotational movement. Also described is a rod holder assembly that may be easily and conveniently converted to a mount for other objects. A method for using the rod holder assembly is also described.
