The cycling shoe also includes a forefoot strap that includes a medial forefoot strap and a lateral forefoot strap. The medial forefoot strap includes a first portion mounted to the toe cap and a second portion mounted to the sole such that a first metatarsal head relief window is formed between the first portion and the second portion. The lateral forefoot strap is mounted to the sole such that a fifth metatarsal head relief window is formed between a distal edge of the lateral forefoot strap and the toe cap.
