Abstract:
An apparatus includes a reception unit configured to receive a photoacoustic wave generated when an object is irradiated with light and output a received signal, and a processing unit configured to obtain an initial acoustic pressure distribution in the object by using the received signal and obtain object information by using an equation representing propagation of the light which includes the initial acoustic pressure distribution and a correction term including a background absorption coefficient distribution of the object.
