In one or more embodiments, a method for commanding a space vehicle (SV) involves determining a transmitter output power for a control word (CW) at a particular temperature for a transmitter on the SV. Also, the method involves generating a transmitter uplink command by using the transmitter output power. Also, the method involves determining channel power for a mode of operation for at least one code. In addition, the method involves determining attenuated channel power for the mode of operation for the at least one code, where the channel power for the at least one code is attenuated. Additionally, the method involves generating at least one attenuated channel power uplink command by using the attenuated channel power for at least one code.
