Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining an association between an ecosystem and a user, wherein the ecosystem includes a number of connected devices and a service function accessible via a network. A signal is detected based on a monitoring of a condition by a connected device of the number of connected devices, and responsive to the detecting of the signal a rule is determined. The rule is based on the signal and on the association between the ecosystem and the user. In further response to the detecting of the signal, a connection is facilitated to a service layer of the network and the service function is accessed via the service layer to facilitate delivery of a service based on the rule.
