The first plate includes a heel region, where the heel region includes a first heel region and a second heel region. A notch region separates the first heel region and the second heel region, where the notch region extends from an outer edge of the heel region toward the midfoot portion of the article of footwear. The first plate and the second plate may improve an amount of energy return while running by increasing a rigidity of the sole.
