The first substrate includes a first metal layer, a first insulating layer covering the first metal layer, a second metal layer formed on the first insulating layer, a second insulating layer covering the second metal layer, a third metal layer formed on the second insulating layer, a third insulating layer covering the third metal layer, an alignment layer arranged on the third insulating layer, and a display region where a plurality of pixels are formed. At least one recessed groove is formed in the third insulating layer and is located at a region between the display region and the annular seal.
