In particular, one or more embodiments receive a request for a video trailer for a media production. For example, one or more embodiments receive the request within a messaging thread involving a user and a messaging bot. Additionally, one or more embodiments determine, based on a selection by the user, a first characteristic corresponding to a first characteristic category type associated with the media production and a second characteristic corresponding to a second characteristic category type associated with the media production. One or more embodiments then provide a customized video trailer for the media production that includes content emphasizing the user-selected characteristics.
