Abstract:
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method including receiving, from a first network slice comprising a set of virtual network functions instantiated in a network, a first request including a first characteristic for a first service associated with a first communication device, receiving, from service layer equipment, first information associated with plurality of network slices, selecting, according to the first characteristic and the first information, a second network slice of the plurality of network slices for facilitating providing a plurality of available services via the network, directing the first network slice to route user plane communication traffic between the first communication device and the second network slice, and directing, by the processing system, the second network slice to facilitate providing the first service to the first communication device via user plan communication traffic. Other embodiments are disclosed.
