In the standard operation mode, the camera (103) is configured to iteratively switch between recording images of a first type and images of a second type with a higher resolution than the images of the first type. In this way, the images of the first type can be used for analyzing a near-range of the vehicle environment without requiring too much computing power. Moreover, the images of the second type have a sufficient resolution for analyzing a far-range of the vehicle environment.
