The X-ray imaging apparatus comprises an X-ray source configured to irradiate X-rays, a sensor configured to obtain a distance between the X-ray source and a subject, a display configured to display a graphical object in association with the subject, an input configured to receive a designation of a region of interest of the subject through the graphical object, and a controller configured to obtain a thickness of the subject based on the distance between the X-ray source and the subject, determine a center of rotation to be set for the X-ray source based on the designation of the region of interest and the thickness of the subject, and control a movement of the X-ray source to set the center of rotation.
