In some implementations, a computer-implemented method includes identifying a plurality of software applications that are configured to access data from the storage device, determining a data access pattern for each of the plurality of software applications, and based on the data access pattern, assigning a respective subset of the plurality of storage chips to each software application such that each storage chip is configured for access by a specific software application.
