An aspect provides a method, at a handheld portable information handling device with a touch screen display, communicating to a hospital transport management system information sufficient to authenticate the user of the handheld portable information handling device; obtaining information from the hospital transport management system relevant to the user of the handheld portable information handling device; displaying the information from the hospital transport management system in a manner that is related to the workflow of the user of the handheld portable information handling device; and communicating to the hospital transport management system information about the workflow of the user of the handheld portable information handling device; and communicating to the hospital transport management system information about the workflow of the user of the handheld portable information handling device.
