A first virtual image display surface and a second virtual image display surface are generated at different positions in the depth direction from the perspective of a viewer, and the ratio between the visibility level of a first virtual image displayed on the first virtual image display surface and the visibility level of a second virtual image displayed on the second virtual image display surface is gradually altered (increased or decreased) according to prescribed parameter information which is presented as numerical values or in multiple levels.
