The improved M1911 handgun contains a handle containing a lower end, and a magazine well formed in the handle and adapted to receive and hold a double stacked magazine, wherein the inner cross-sectional profile of the magazine well is same from the lower end of the handle to a top of a frame of the improved M1911 handgun.
