Abstract:
Disclosed are aqueous emulsion copolymerization processes for synthesizing 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene/vinylidene fluoride copolymers having 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene as the major monomer unit. The copolymerization process is performed at temperatures of from about 55° C. to about 70° C. with at least one water soluble radical initiator, with preferred initiators including Na2S2O8, K2S2O8, (NH4)2S2O8, Fe2(S2O8)3, K2S2O8/FeSO4, (NH4)2S2O8/Fe2O4, and the like, as well as combinations thereof.
