The surface wave communication system further comprises at least one interference cancelling system, where each interference cancelling system comprises an antenna arrangement and a cancelling device. The cancelling device is adapted to: input antenna signal components from the corresponding antenna arrangement in at least one corresponding antenna branch, input conduit signal components from the surface wave conduit in a conduit branch, to remove adapted antenna signal components from the conduit signal components such that recovered conduit signal components are obtained, and to output the recovered conduit signal components.
