A first voltage is applied to a liquid crystal in a local area in the liquid crystal panel when a transmissivity of the local area is set to a predetermined local minimum value, and a second voltage is applied to a liquid crystal in a remaining area other than the local area in the liquid crystal panel when the transmissivity of the remaining area is set to a predetermined local minimum value. The first voltage is different from the second voltage.
