The barbell of the weightlifting apparatus can have alignment indicia on an outer surface thereon. The weightlifting apparatus is configured to selectively display the amount of weight on the weightlifting apparatus. The alignment indicia of the barbell is aligned with the at least one indicia on the weight plate to mark or indicate which indicia of a plurality of indicia is the selected indicia to be viewed.
