The receiver receives a video signal from an external electronic apparatus through a cable conforming to a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) standard. The receiver receives, from the external electronic apparatus through the cable, information for transferring a signal using a function of Audio Return Channel (ARC) or enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) of the HDMI standard. The transmitter transmits a position information signal or an audio signal to the external electronic apparatus through the cable, in accordance with the received information.
