QoS aspects within split base stations
Abstract:
A split of radio protocols is applied within a cellular base station, between at least one virtualization platform connected through user data interfaces to Radio Transceiver Points (R-TP) serving a UE.
It is provided a header for transporting a QoS information value, belonging to a set including a delay budget under 50 ms, related to at least one data packet transmitted to the given UE by a specific application. The header and the data packet are tunneled to the R-TP serving the UE.
A control interface, conveying QoS requirements of the specific application, is established between a Central Controller or a Central Coordinator of the base station and the serving R-TP.
The data packet is transmitted over the air to the given UE, being scheduled while considering the QoS information included within the provided header and the conveyed QoS requirements.
