The communication method includes receiving, by the network device, first indication information from the terminal device, where the first indication information is used to indicate a first antenna port combination mode set. The method also includes determining, by the network device, K antenna ports in the N antenna ports based on the first antenna port combination mode set and sending, by the network device, second indication information to the terminal device.
