A weighing system for weighing an item when being conveyed comprising: at least one container for transporting the item; a conveyor means for conveying said container in a first vertical direction; and a weighing device for weighing the container; wherein the container is connected to the conveyor means via a primary connecting means and a secondary connecting means, each of them comprising a first section permanently connected to the container, a second section permanently connected to the conveyor means, and a third section hingedly connected to both the first section and the second section; and wherein the third section of the primary connecting means is rotatable about a first axis transverse to the conveying direction and the third section of the secondary connecting means is rotatable about a second axis parallel to said conveying direction such that the container may move from the first vertical position to a second vertical position.
