In an embodiment, the device includes a first interface embodied to receive a medical image data record, including a region of an anatomy of a patient to be examined, which has the section of a blood vessel; a first computing unit, embodied to apply a first algorithm pretrained on an anatomical feature for detecting the anatomical feature based upon the medical image data record; and a second interface embodied to provide an item of information based upon the detection of the anatomical feature. The anatomical feature includes a change in caliber of a blood vessel. Further, the presence of the anatomical feature is indicative of vascular pulmonary disease, in particular of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.
