The methods and apparatus effect determination that a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state is to be changed for a wireless transmission channel, where the channel includes time domain bundling of demodulation reference signals (DMRSs) across two or more symbols. Responsive to the determination that the TCI state is to be changed, the time domain bundling of the DMRSs in the transmission channel is selectively stopped prior to the TCI state change.
