The scintillator includes a plurality of columnar crystals containing an alkali metal halide. The protective layer includes a resin layer containing a resin to which particles of a metal oxide are added. A thickness of the resin layer from an apex of each of the plurality of columnar crystals to an upper surface of the resin layer is not less than 10 μm and less than 30 μm, and a concentration of the particles in the resin layer is not less than 0.15 vol % and less than 7.5 vol %.
