The monitoring unit has an electronic circuit and a signal transmitter emitting actuation signals to the electronic circuit when the plier tool is actuated. The signal transmitter has an energy harvesting module for supplying energy to the monitoring unit and an actuation mechanism activating the signal transmitter.
