According to the invention, the optical system is adapted to an individual user, a first target value for adaptation of a display control unit of the display unit for controlling the first display being determined, a current viewing direction of the first eye being determined by the gaze-tracking glasses, a virtual object being generated and, taking account of the first target value, the virtual object being displayed in the first display at a position in the determined viewing direction of the first eye.
