During production and assembly of a battery pack, the location of a battery module in a production line is tracked using detected signal strengths from a wireless transmitter of a battery module monitoring system. During the life of the battery module, the battery module monitoring system provides battery usage data that can be combined with vehicle data for diagnostic analysis.
