Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, an indication that indicates a blockage event as a cause for a change in one or more of rank information or channel quality information, wherein the blockage event is associated with a differential signal power between a first polarization and a second polarization. The UE may receive, from the base station, a transmission based at least in part on the indication that indicates the blockage event as the cause for the change in one or more of the rank information or the channel quality information.
