The target application is an application requiring use of a network slice for data transmission and the terminal information is able to reflect a terminal capability of the terminal. The method further includes sending request information to a server according to the application information and the terminal information. The method also includes receiving slice information returned by the server based on the request information. A network slice indicated by the slice information is matched with the target application and the terminal capability. The method further includes transmitting data of the target application based on the network slice indicated by the slice information.
