In some aspects, a first wireless communication device may receive, from a second wireless communication device, beam type information associated with at least one beam used by the second wireless communication device for a hierarchical beamforming process, wherein the beam type information includes an indication of a number of beam types used in the hierarchical beamforming process and an indication of a number of beams of each of the beam types used in the hierarchical beamforming process. The first wireless communication device may perform a wireless communication action based at least in part on the beam type information. Numerous other aspects are described.
