The upper dental tray and lower dental tray are connected by an elongated connector having receptacles at its proximal and distal ends for engaging laterally extending supports on the upper dental tray and lower dental tray, respectively. A backstop is positioned adjacent to each of the laterally extending supports to prevent movement of the connector in a predetermined direction.
