The electronic device includes an interface circuitry configured to be connected to an external device; and a processor configured to: identify a characteristic of the connected external device; obtain identification information of the connected external device based on the identified characteristic of the connected external device and a recognition model learning a relation between characteristics of a plurality of external devices and identification information of the plurality of external devices; and perform an operation based on the identification information of the connected external device.
