The bench comprises a frame for contacting the ground surface, a platform supported by the frame at an elevation above the ground surface, the platform defining a work plane area for receiving harvesting equipment. A portion of the frame and of the platform define parts of a first bench section movable relative to a second bench section between a retracted position and an extended position to extend or retract a footprint of the bench and/or extend or reduce the work plane area.
