The method further includes determining, based on the DCI, whether the DCI is associated with a beam update for uplink, downlink, or a combination of the uplink and the downlink. The method further includes determining, from the DCI, a TCI state that indicates a beam for the uplink, the downlink, or the combination of the uplink and the downlink.
