In one aspect, a method in a traffic monitor in a communications network comprises responsive to a notification that content is being delivered to a device from a content delivery network according to a data transfer policy, the notification including an indication of the data transfer policy, monitoring delivery of the content from the content delivery network to the device and, responsive to a detection that the delivery of the content violates the data transfer policy, performing a notification action.
