The ultrasound apparatus may include: an ultrasound probe, a transmission and receiving controller, an ultrasound echo signal processor, a data processor and a display device. The ultrasound echo signal processor may perform different processes on an ultrasound echo signal according to usage of the ultrasound echo signal. A gain compensation for enhancing image quality may be performed on a first ultrasound echo signal to be used for obtaining the ultrasound image, and a gain compensation for preserving original information may be performed on a second ultrasound echo signal to be used for calculating a quantitative parameter of a liver. The data processor may generate the ultrasound image according to the processed first ultrasound echo signal, calculate the quantitative parameter according to the processed second ultrasound echo signal, and output the ultrasound image and the quantitative parameter.
