An assembly for a portable blender. The assembly having a housing that is configured for coupling to a container. The assembly has at least one battery, a motor electrically connected to the battery, a blade coupled to the motor, and a user input device operable to cause power to be sent from the battery to the motor so that the motor rotates the blade. At least a portion of the blade is positioned outside of the housing so that the blade is configured to be positioned in an interior space of the container when the housing is coupled to the container. The assembly may include a plurality of batteries each positioned radially outward from the motor with the batteries positioned circumferentially around the motor.
