The method also comprises adjusting the code rate based on an amount of the data and an amount of resource available for transmitting the data (220). The method further comprises updating the target error rate for transmitting subsequent data from the second device to the first device based on an amount of the adjustment of the code rate (230). An improved link adaption scheme and improve uplink/downlink transmission performance of the communication system are provided.
