In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that an uplink demodulation reference signal (DMRS) bundling operation associated with a physical channel has started. The UE may change an activity state of a reception operation associated with periodic downlink communications based at least in part on determining that the uplink DMRS bundling operation has started.
