Each individual conveyor unit has a defined current characteristic during fault-free operation and the background system is configured to record the defined current characteristic and the actual current characteristic of the conveyor unit. The background system is configured to analyze the actual current characteristic of the conveyor unit and to signal, on the basis of the analysis, an impending wear and/or a malfunction of the conveyor system, in particular of a conveyor line of the conveyor unit.
