A device for detecting and recording violation of vehicle noise laws. The device includes one or more sound level sensors, cameras, microphones, microcontrollers, electronic data storage, user interfaces, and internal power sources. The device requires no operator, external power source, or information network connection and its design protects against weather, theft, and vandalism.
